One of the reasons we moved from Montana to New York City was my health - I suffered from end stage renal disease. We knew the transplant team at Weill Cornell and, after talking with them, made the move to NYC in less than two weeks.
(Did I mention we have three cats? It was a scene, man.)
My wife kicked off a paired exchange, where her donated kidney went to someone in need in Boston. A few weeks later, I receive a call that a good (GREAT!) samaritan donor in Seattle was a match for me.
A little over a week ago, I underwent a kidney transplant.
(I’m good, and everyone else in the chain is doing well.)
What the &^%! does this have to do with A Box of Corn Dogs?
Well, my immune system is shot for the next 3+ months, meaning no crowds, no eating out, no ordering in, etc.
Kinda the opposite of what ABoCD was created for!
I’m putting a pause on this publication for a few months. And, I’m starting a new publication called Upon Consideration. You can read more about Upon Consideration here.
As for A Box of Corn Dogs, I’m leaving this site up and as soon as I’m able to, I’ll restart the dispatches.
Please note: I’m not transferring your email address to my Upon Consideration publication. That’d be, um, weird.
Thanks for being here over the last few months!
See you soon!
